Global Community Sandbox

    Hello Everyone,

         I am starting this thread for the Community Sandbox.  I will be updating the thread tonight to include the guidelines and the process for getting access.

         For all sandbox correspondence (including requests, issues, etc)  please use: 4tmlt4@gmail.com
    *Please note that by emailing to this link your email will not be received or viewed by Broadcom. The provisioning of the Sandbox is done by Broadcom community members that are not Broadcom employees. Any requests to view or delete personal data should be directed to the community member managing the Sandbox.


    A few comments:

    1. I do not work for Broadcom, so please do not contact me directly for support of your production Clarity instance.  They have an awesome support team, so please open a ticket and they will be glad to assist you.
    2. If you require a dedicated sandbox, please contact your sales rep.  I do not provision dedicated sandboxes
    3. Keep your email address current in the sandbox.  If you cannot be contacted by me I might have to suspend your account to get your attention  :)
    4. The sandboxes have been upgraded to version 15.7.0

    May 11, 2020 Update - I have requested an update to the sandboxes, however due to the current SaaS migrations there will be no upgrades in the foreseeable future.  There are also additional changes that will be occurring in a couple of months.  As I receive information it is allowable to be passed on, I will provide an update.

    When might the next upgrade be and to which version would it be?

    Most likely after the next release of Clarity, and it will be the most current release.  I am in the middle of setting up the support accounts again and making sure I understand the process to the getting the  upgrades scheduled and completed. 

    I found my support account is gone and I needed to set it up again.

    It will most likely be a complete new install as the Sandbox with Admin access has a lot of "leftovers" from where some users have not been cleaning up after themselves.  I go in monthly and do some cleanup and try to keep it manageable.

    The next upgrade will probably be after the next release of Clarity and it will be to the latest version. 

    I am in the process of fixing my support account as it seems to have disappeared and it is required for the upgrade.

    Due to the condition of the Sandbox with Admin access, it will most likely be a pristine install to get rid of all the clutter that the users have forgotten to remove once they were done with their activities. I try to do some cleaning on a monthly basis but would like to get the system back to a known state.

    Advance notice of the upgrade will given once I have everything arranged.

    IT has everything going through manual moderation until mid-week. Once that's turned off, you should be able to see your posts more quickly:)

    Yeah, I did get two replies.
    Mike, I take you are aware that Newman release was scheduled to be released today. You do need support access.
    Fresh install sounds good.

    Please let us know when you are able to download the software and what it took to get there.

    The version in the Sandboxes is 15.7.1.

    Mike, This is great news, is there a way to make sure people don't change all the out of the box settings? Example: refrain from changing ootb security groups? If you want to create one, just make a copy and adjust.

    There are 2 sandboxes, one with admin privileges one without.  Unfortunately, I cannot limit OOTB settings on the admin box.  Users have to be respectful of one another.  If anyone gets out of hand, or I receive complaints I will discuss with them. In the past there were a number of users whose accounts I had to terminate due to lack of respect for other users.

    Accounts are now open for the sandboxes, please reply to my gmail account requesting access.  I do have one issue with Jaspersoft and am looking into it this weekend.


    Please note:  Prior to the upgrade there were a number of users that were using the sandbox for production purposes.  This is cause for account termination.  Likewise if you make changes to another persons account.

         Maintenance is performed once a week, and the guidelines for the use of the sandbox have been updated. One additional sandbox has been added (see below)

     Which Sandbox do you want access to?

         1)            15.7.0 sandbox with user only access

         2)            15.7.0 sandbox with admin access

     

    Please be prepared to follow the following guideline.

     

    Sandbox guidelines:

     

    1) THIS ENVIRONMENT IS NOT FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES (No client or commercial development, No Client Testing, No client or staff training, etc).

    2) As this is a shared sandbox, please do not update OOTB portlets, lookups, objects, views. Copy existing or create your own to avoid impacting other users.

    3) Do not create login accounts for other members or non-members of the community. This includes reactivation of disabled accounts.

    4) This environment is not to be used for production projects.

    5) Be respectful of other members using the environment.

    6) Users are not to affect any changes on other users accounts.

    7) If you must modify the OOTB objects, views, lookups, portlets, for any reason, please revert them back to the prior state.

    8) When creating a custom object, view, lookup, portlet, etc, please use an ID that easily shows it is not OOTB. Also, include in the description field the name of the creator, and purpose.

     9) Passwords are valid for 90 days

    10) Do not edit the security on accounts others accounts

    11) Do not unlock other users accounts.

     

     By logging into this system you agree to the above guidelines. Failure to follow the guidelines may result in the termination of you account.

    Are the Sandboxes still up and running?

    I do not seem to get any response from URL's I have used previously. They've  been like that for months.

    Looking at it more closely the URL are CA types and apparently not there any more.

    I do recall something about Broadcom maintained sandboxes with the latest version.
    Is there any more information about those.

    I do hope that when they come the access does not required a site ID as I do not have one. Unless somebody in this community is kind enough to allow me access with their site ID. Anybody?

    The word from product management is:
    The old community sandboxes have been retired.

    There is one sandbox maintained by Broadcom. That is strictly for customers only.
