    Hello Pushpa,

SOI itself does not have the capability to monitor devices. SOI gets the information from Model Domain Repositories (MDR) like Spectrum, Unified Infrastructure Management, SCOM, APM, etc. The information is published into SOI via Connectors. If you want to publish device and alarm data into SOI only for test puposes you can use the Universal Connector on the SOI Manager to achieve this.

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-service-operations-insight/4-2/en/connectors/generic-connector-documentation/universal-connector/universal-connector-command-line-interface

On the SOI Manager in the SOI_Home folder you have example xml files for universal connector

    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               567 universalAdd_Alerts.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               540 universalAdd_Application.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               763 universalAdd_ApplicationServer.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               779 universalAdd_ComputerSystem.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               642 universalAdd_Database.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               638 universalAdd_FileSystem.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               563 universalAdd_Memory.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               615 universalAdd_Processor.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               527 universalAdd_Service.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM             1,717 universalAdd_ServiceModel.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               645 universalDelete_ComputerSystem.xml
    09/07/2017  03:54 AM               645 universalUpdate_ComputerSystem.xml

    Kind regards,

    Hi Pushpa,

as Britta already mentioned, you need to monitor the device you want to see in CA SOI by any product that is integrated into CA SOI, such as CA UIM or CA Spectrum.

Which product is monitoring your office desktop hardware and software status?  This product will bring in the information about the device as well as anything it monitors on your office desktop into CA SOI.

Alarms will be shown directly in the CA SOI Alarm Console, while to see this in a Service, you have to create a Service with your office desktop as member of the service.

See CA Service Operations Insight Home - CA Service Operations Insight - 4.2 - CA Technologies Documentation  for further details about CA SOI, and Service Modeling - CA Service Operations Insight - 4.2 - CA Technologies Documentation  how to model services.
