  • 1.  Maximum number of agents in a SS

    Posted Apr 28, 2016 04:38 PM

    Good afternoon.

In my company I have a Scalability Server 2432 that has connected agents ; and I see that on several occasions the "sdserver.exe" constant reboots when launching distributions.

This occurs because the number of agents in the SS ???

What is the maximum number of agents that would support an SS with Windows Server 2012 R2 , Intel Xeon E5520 and 16 GB of RAM ???

Thank you very much for your comments.

    Greetings.

    Jose

The recommendation is not to exceed 1000 Agents per SS. I generally use a MAXIMUM top load of 1500 Agents per SS. At 2400+ you are VERY likely to see problems related to CAM queues, which may very well be the cause of your SDSERVER crashes.

Unfortunately adding more or faster CPUs or more RAM does not affect this number. The maximum load for an SS has more to do with the number of queues CAM can effectively handle and this number does not increase with more RAM or faster CPU, it is a limit based on CAM technology.

FYI – these numbers may actually need to be LOWER based on other requirements such as service level agreements for package delivery.

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I'll keep very present for the implementation of another SS.
