    Hi,

I am planning an SDM installation with:
    1 MDB Server - MSSQL
    1 Background Server
    1 Standby Server
    2 Application Server

    I also have:
    1 EEM Server
    1 CA Process Automation Server

I tried to read on the documentations the details of the integrations with EEM and CA Process Automation, but I failed to find the information I need.

    My questions are:
In the SDM installation process, Which SDM servers must integrate with EEM?
On the same note, whick ones must integrate with CA Process Automation?

    Regards,
    Armando Martires

Q1 - Which SDM servers must integrate with EEM?
It is the User Validation  (boplgin) process that connects with EEM for authentication purposes. This process by default runs on the active background server.

Q2 - Which SDM servers must integrate with CA Process Automation (PAM)?
From SDM to PAM, every SDM server can make process start calls to PAM.
From PAM to SDM, you configure which SDM server URL you want PAM to talk to in the SDM Connector (generally one of the application servers or a load balancer in front of your application servers).

Thanks for the clarification @Lindsay Estabrooks

Would this be a correct process for installation and Integration?
    1. Install EEM
    2. Install PAM and Integrate With EEM
    3. Install Background Server and Integrate wit EEM and PAM
    4. Install Standby Server(s) and integrate with EEM and PAM
    5. Install Application Server(s) and Integrate with PAM
    6. Install Service Catalog and integrate with EEM and PAM
If during the installation we do not integrate the Background and Standby servers with EEM and PAM, but perform the integration while installing the Application Server(s), is this OK, or do I need to go back to the Background and Standby and Integrate them too?

    Hi Armando,

That looks to be correct. You should not have to go back to the Background/Standby servers. You enable the SDM to EEM integration in the Options Manager --> Security, configuring the settings:
    • eiam_hostname
    • use_eiam_authentication
Are you currently experiencing some issues?

    Cheers,
    Lindsay

Everything is working fine and I now understand the installation better.
    Thanks!
