    Important Qualification:

    ·         You can’t move NFA 9.1.3 on one box directly to 9.2 on another.  There are 2 options:

    1.       Upgrade to 9.2 then perform the migration

    2.       Perform the migration and then upgrade

    Process:

    ***Prerequisites:

    ·         New server(s) must have same IP and Hostname as appliance

    ·         New server(s) will have all prerequisites in place (.NET, IIS, Java, etc)

    1.       Prepare new server & install Windows 2008 on VM (Install / Upgrade Guides)

    2.       Check and back up databases (Upgrade Guide)

    3.       Install NFA 9.1.3 (9.2)

    4.       Copy Databases and datafiles from old server to new server.

Note***Restoring the database to the new server cannot happen until after the new installation. Confirm the install is completed and functional first. Then copy the database and datafiles from old to new server.

    5.       Complete the post-upgrade tasks (Upgrade Guide)

    6.       Confirm sync from CAPC or NPC

    I didn't think that 9.2 was supported on Windows2003.

If this is the case then surely option 1 isn't possible and you would have to do go with option 2 (migrate the data to a Windows 2008 environment with 9.1.3 installed and then upgrade to 9.2)?

    Thanks

    Lesley

NFA 9.2 does NOT support Windows 2003, we only support 2008R2 for NFA 9.2.

This tip was meant to help users migrate from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008.

Correct: 9.2 isn't supported as a new install on 2003. However, you should be able to upgrade to 9.2 on 2003. The OS check is only present in the setup branch, not the upgrade branch.

We do not support upgrades to NFA 9.2 on Windows 2003 either.

So do not upgrade to NFA 9.2 until you are on Windows 2008 R2.

ADA supported the upgrade while on 2003, NFA does not.

So which one of you is right?

Stuart says it should be possible but Christopher says it will fail.

    Has anyone tried this yet?

    Thanks

As per NFA Development, NFA 9.2 is NOT supported on Windows 2003.

Always go by what the instllation guide states as they always document the supported Operation Systems.

The guide in this case even documents the error messages you will see if you try to upgrade or install on Windows 2003.

The steps are to install fresh 9.1.3 on Windows 2008 R2, move the 9.1.3 data from Windows 2003, then perform all the other upgrades on the Windows 2008R2 systems.
