    Hi Team,

Does anyone moved from Automic on premises to cloud recently? Just want to know the experience and any observation about the performance. Appreciate any documentation or links. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks,
    Prakash S

    Hi @Prakash Subramanian
We have customers using a cloud deployment of the AE. As long as it is a supported OS, there should not be any issues.
The big consideration is the DB.
    1) We do not currently support RDS offerings from the Cloud vendors so it must be a "Full" DB eg a Full MS SQL DB deployment.
    2) DB performance is critical so the connection to the DB must be sufficient.

    cheers
    David

    Hi @Prakash Subramanian,

We have been running Automic on AWS including RDS for many years without issue and our performance as been good.
Originally we were on V11.2 Windows with an MS SQL DB. Recently we moved our AE to Linux with a PostgreSQL DB when we upgraded to V12.3.

    Hope that's helpful info,
    George

    Hi Prakash,
We have assisted several customers with their cloud installations and migrations, both on-prem and private/public configurations. As mentioned below, the DB is a big consideration as you will need to either have the DB and Engines on the same configurations, or ensure that your "Cloud Port Management" allows for the DB ports as well as the port ranges needed for engines, all depending on number of WPs and CPs. We even had one customer that used a Public cloud accessible Engine for DR, but again, the trick with or without the DB, is the ports and EXTREMELY Important: Bi-Directional comms on all the AE Ports, many security folks have tried to limit it to 1 way and disabled Automic, this rule is for on-prem or private/public clouds.

Enjoy the power the Cloud will bring you,
    Brian

Thanks Brian. Do you have any cloud migration process document? I did not see anything in the docs.automic.com website.
