Unable to change "Resolution" time from 5 mins to 1 min in CA PM "On-Demand Report Template"

I have created a "On-Demand Report Template" in DX NetOps CA PM. The Resolution time is changed to "1 min" in the settings but the report output continues to reflect "5 min" Resolution. Any idea why changes are not executing? or that Resolution has to be changed in some other settings?

Did you check to see what's the poll rate of the monitoring profile that is collecting these values? Do you poll the device at 1 minute interval? If you poll the device at 5 minutes, the 1 minute selected here, in the area where values are displayed, won't make a difference. It will show the lowest value that it has to display, thus the 5 minute interval.

We are polling all devices every 5 mins. Is it possible to change the polling time of specific group of devices ? By the way in SolarWinds we can pull the report for these devices at 1 min interval.

Yes, it is possible to have dedicated monitoring profiles for relevant devices. You can read more on Monitoring Profiles here. Make sure you don't overrun your devices with unnecessary polls. Polling everything at 1 minute interval could induce load on your monitored inventory.

Btw, this is PM and not SolarWinds, so I don't know why you bring it on here.

This documentation page further discusses how to Poll Critical Interfaces Faster than Non-critical Interfaces.

The topics discussed can be applied to other items, not just Interfaces.

    Hope that helps!

I have created a monitoring profile to poll group of devices (Internet links) at the SNMP polling rate of 1 min, but these devices are also part of another out of box monitoring profile the one I copied and modified (Network Interfaces), that profile polls "All Routers and Switches" at the SNMP poll rate of 5 mins. How can I exclude my group (Internet links) from the out of box monitoring profile (Network Interfaces)

DA will use the fastest poll rate when a component would be polled by 2 different Monitoring Profiles.

So in this case, any device/interface in the 1 min MP will poll at 1 min, and the rest of the devices/interfaces in the 5 min MP will poll at 5 min.

But if you want to have the MPs only be for the devices you want polled with it, then you can't use the OOTB collections.

You need to create a custom collection of the 5 min devices and a custom collection of the 1 min devices.  Then associate the correct collection with the correct MP.

    You keep saying links.
Is your group a group of interfaces or a group of devices?
You have to have devices in that Custom group. Then filter in or out in you monitoring profiles component filter.

I realize it is an odd requirement from them. Maybe Keller can get a feature in that we can filter those better. I have ideas.

Because you have a separate Monitoring profile you can then build an inclusive or exclusive filter to narrow down the polling on the interfaces.
The danger here can be large if you have many devices in the group and you filter is too greedy and grabs in too much information from sensitive devices with many interfaces.

GEt in your lab and test your filters.

The group is consist of 4 devices with their 4 internet links to ISP. Requirement is to monitor these internet links with SNMP polling rate of 1 min.

You're displaying setup for groups here, and not Collections. Groups can be used in dashboard filtering and event rules associations.

For data collection purposes you have to use Collections. These collections have associated Monitoring Profiles. What Jeff was mentioning earlier, is that if a device is monitored by multiple monitoring profiles (by being part of multiple collections), than the components of those devices are monitored matched first by the monitoring profile with the lowest monitoring interval. So if one interface is monitored by 1 minute in one collection and by 5 minutes in 3 or 4 other collections, the 1 minute interval collection takes precedence over the others.

You have to setup your collection the same way you setup your groups that you're displaying and assign relevant monitoring profiles to the collections.
