Use Performance Reports Designer to see if the data shows up.

May need to change those links from docops.ca.com to docops.broadcom.com

The docs cover usage but not really what it seems is being asked for which is more of a flow chart on how uim works. Complete answer is too long so in brief.
end point = robot with monitoring probes
robot sends 'messages' which are many different types, most common are qos and alarms, to the hub
from the hub to the primary hub,
at primary hub queues take in the messages and probes pull them
example: data_engine pulls messages and adds the content to the uim db
see hub configure gui Status tab to see queues, their messages, and probe pulling messages
ump is a liferay website provided via wasp
all data in ump is read from the uim db
previously mention PRD is looking more at raw data
USM, dashboards, reports all have requirements specific to the data it will display
take away is, question: is the data not collected or is it collected and just not displayed
UMP has the SLM portlet with Quality of Service option (see above referenced docs on how to find and use)
it can be very useful since it provides an easy way to see all the raw data collected.
