  • 1.  How to set the Loading Pattern and Fixed duration on project level ?

    Posted Aug 23, 2019 12:05 PM
    Hi Team,

I need your help to set the Fixed Duration for the all of the tasks on project level and loading pattern for the all of the resources assigned to that project rather than going and doing in  individual task and resources assigned to it.

Is there any easiest way that we can set the fixed duration and loading patter for particular project  ? Thanks in advance for your help !

Loading Patter and Fixed Duration kind of parameters cannot be set on the project level.
It is only available on the Task level.

You could set the default for task Fixed Duration then it would apply to all new tasks in all projects.
Likewise you could the default for loading patterns. Loading pattern is actually an attribute of the assignment object.

I want to do it for only 130 projects out of 200 projects. so i can't set default in all projects. so i was looking if there is any easiest way if we can do it on the project level rather than doing it on each task and the resources assigned to it for the project .

The defaults will work only for new items to be created. If you have already created the items the defaults will not change them.
Currently there is no way a user can change those values other than one at a time.
When the grid copy and paste works in the Classic UI task list that should give you the option to change one screenful at a time.
Likewise when the same is available in the common grid  in the New UX task list you can do it there.

Until then grid copy paste works in OWB where you can create a view with the task Fixed Duration and assignment Loading pattern fields.

When you set the defaults they work for all new items (once the server and browser caches are updated) in all projects
The fixed duration is a task object attribute and you set the default in the attribute properties

The Loading pattern is an attribute of the assignment object

Once your have created the new items with these values you can set the defaults to something other if needed.

Grid copy seems to work in 15.5.1 in the Task list grid view

That allows you to copy the value of Fixed Duration from one cell to all others within a project without setting the defaults.

You can go into the Modern UX Project TASKS grid, add the field, set one task to the desired value,  then copy/ paste it down the list.
You could also use API or XOG, but this is not as easy.

You could also create a grid portlet based on the assignment object in the Classic UI.
The data in object based portlets is editable.
You can filter by the project and display max 50 lines per page.
There you can copy paste the loading pattern one line at a time, but as said up to 50 lines in the same screen
