09/10/2015    09:59:23 AM    from Chris Hackett (CA) to Everyone:

Hi Everyone - We'll be starting in just a few minutes.

09/10/2015    10:01:50 AM    from Chris Hackett (CA) to Everyone:

      Ready for questions!

09/10/2015    10:03:44 AM    from Tai Nguyen to Everyone:

I'm preparing to install JasperSoft and we don't have a separate server for it.  What is the drawback(s) and expectation?

09/10/2015    10:05:29 AM    from Ramana to Everyone:

Hi, Thru GEL Script we can access an external MS SQL server database if it uses SQL server authentication by passing id and password. But how can you access an external MS SQL server database if it uses WINDOWS authentication? Any Idea?

09/10/2015    10:06:05 AM    from John W. George (CA Technologies) to Everyone:

@Tai - to start, I suggest that you take a look at the comprehensive documentation we have for installing and configuring advanced reporting with jaspersoft here:  https://wiki.ca.com/display/CCPPMOP142/Install+and+Configure%3A+Advanced+Reporting+with+Jaspersoft

09/10/2015    10:06:21 AM    from Eric Gingras to Everyone:

I would need to add some attribute to the datawarehouse.  As example I would like to add the Budgeted Benefit… if I click on this attribute from the project Object… the field is locked… Could you explain why it is locked and how I can get this data into the DWH.

09/10/2015    10:07:01 AM    from Nick Darlington (CA) to Everyone:

@Ramana You would need to check the JDBC driver configuration documentation for the driver you are using and see what support it has for that kind of authentication and how you would provide/supply those details

09/10/2015    10:07:18 AM    from Janet Ulrich to Everyone:

Can we add data to the Data Warehouse from existing custom objects where we have been archiving month over month data from ideas, projects and programs?

09/10/2015    10:07:27 AM    from Michael Brunak to Everyone:

I would like to report on 2 new Portfolio Plan Investment custom attributes:

    Steps:

    1. Adding attribute to Investment object - 1 numeric, 1 calculated

    2. Added to Portfolio Investment object using "Attribute Registry"

    3. I am able to display as column in OOTB Portfolio Plan Investment listing. Editing is working. Calculations are working.

What table are both attributes stored for Jaspersoft Adhoc reporting?

09/10/2015    10:07:58 AM    from John W. George (CA Technologies) to Everyone:

@Tai - you will also find an FAQ for Advanced Reporting with Jaspersoft here, which may also help you out:  https://wiki.ca.com/display/CCPPMOP142/Advanced+Reporting+with+Jaspersoft+-+Frequently+Asked+Questions

09/10/2015    10:08:50 AM    from John Benfield to Everyone:

Is there any news on when 14.3 will be released and if there will be support for both BO and Jaspersoft?

09/10/2015    10:09:36 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

Are there any OWB issues with the 14.3 connector?

09/10/2015    10:09:41 AM    from Patrick to Everyone:

this time of year we have many promotions / role changes in our organization.  Resources tend to be allocated to many projects.  What is the best practice for properly updating Clarity for a role change to ensure that the profile, project allocations, and any timesheet task assignments are all updated in easy timely manner.  @pat

09/10/2015    10:09:50 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

Are there any MSP issues with the 14.3 connector?

09/10/2015    10:11:39 AM    from John W. George (CA Technologies) to Everyone:

@John - please take a look at this FAQ for Jaspersoft - you will find information about BO and Jaspersoft:  https://support.ca.com/phpdocs/7/5590/5590_Jaspersoft_FAQ.pdf

09/10/2015    10:13:39 AM    from Tai Nguyen to Everyone:

I'm not authorized to see a certain thing, do the company that i work for need to add me to their account?

09/10/2015    10:14:13 AM    from Lynn to Everyone:

@Lowell, if you have not yet used the 14.2 MSP connector, there are issue when choosing to use the new driver. The issues were bad enough that it prevented us from using it with 14.2, so we are going to use the legacy driver, which means 2013 cannot be supported.

09/10/2015    10:14:25 AM    from John Benfield to Everyone:

Thanks, but that doesn't really address 14.3. We're trying to determine whether to wait for 14.3 or deploy 14.2

09/10/2015    10:15:13 AM    from Janet Ulrich to Everyone:

@Lynn - What are the issues that you saw with the 14.2 MSP xml connector?

09/10/2015    10:16:16 AM    from Lynn to Everyone:

@ John, sorry I wrote the wrong name. Yes, I understand, but was asking if you already had 14.2, which it seems you do not. Some of the issues are expected to be fixed in 14.3, but I don't know a full list....

09/10/2015    10:17:05 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Tai Nguyen: Are you saying you cannot see information on the wiki.ca.com site because you do not have a login?

09/10/2015    10:17:23 AM    from Tai Nguyen to Everyone:

I have a login but it seem like i have limited access

09/10/2015    10:17:26 AM    from Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Michael Brunak since the attributes are defined on the Investment Object, you would include those attributes in Data Warehouse as with any other custom attributes. For information about which tables to pull the data from in JasperSoft report, please refer to the domain documentation

09/10/2015    10:17:38 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

MSP 2013 cannot be supported using Clarity 14.3?  But, MSP 2013 is compatible with Clarity 13.3.  Just confirming

09/10/2015    10:18:14 AM    from Lynn to Everyone:

@ Janet-- baseline figures are changed: example 12 changes to 11.34..   All tasks get changed to Fixed units, even though we have them set to Fixed work.  The new driver has a tiny menu tray indicating the project is saving (legacy has the same as 13). It is VERY easy for a user not to see that, if you touch the project, it locks and crashes. Other users had saving problems too. Also, a few of us noticed the performance is much slower with the new driver.. Those come to mind.

09/10/2015    10:18:34 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Tai Nguyen: What are you looking for that you think you are not seeing? Are you using a company email address?

09/10/2015    10:19:10 AM    from Michael Brunak to Everyone:

I would like to report on 2 new Portfolio Plan Investment custom attributes:

    Steps:

    1. Adding attribute to Investment object - 1 numeric, 1 calculated

    2. Added to Portfolio Investment object using "Attribute Registry"

    3. I am able to display as column in OOTB Portfolio Plan Investment listing. Editing is working. Calculations are working.

What table are both attributes stored for Jaspersoft Adhoc reporting?

09/10/2015    10:19:14 AM    from Lynn to Everyone:

@ Lowell - yes MSP 2013 SP1 is supported only when you choose the new driver when installing the connector with 14.2, that may be the same with 14.3, but the standards have not been released yet I don't think

09/10/2015    10:19:19 AM    from Tai Nguyen to Everyone:

I have to use my personal email address.  I just started working for a new company, do I need to change my email address?

09/10/2015    10:19:50 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Tai Nguyen: yes, please use a company email address and you should get more access.

09/10/2015    10:20:10 AM    from Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Lowell MSP 2013 is supported with Clarity 14.x; but if you are using MSP 2013 SP1, you cannot use the legacy driver

09/10/2015    10:20:14 AM    from Tai Nguyen to Everyone:

Do they need to add me to their account?

09/10/2015    10:20:45 AM    from Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Lowell MSP 2013 is supported with Clarity 14.x; but if you are using MSP 2013 SP1, you cannot use the legacy driver - that is documented in the change and upgrade guide for 14.2 (and also 14.1 I believe)

09/10/2015    10:21:04 AM    from Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

Quick question - is Microsoft Project 2013 (SP1) compatible with Clarity 13.3?

09/10/2015    10:21:55 AM    from Christie to Everyone:

Is it not possible to edit the investment "Progress" attribute?  We'd like to add some custom values but I can't find the lookup.

09/10/2015    10:22:06 AM    from Sarmistha (CA) to Everyone:

@Eric- Here's some information about the advanced reporting domains and their behavior that might help: https://wiki.ca.com/display/CCPPMOP142/Configure+Advanced+Reporting#ConfigureAdvancedReporting-AdvancedReportingDomainReference

09/10/2015    10:22:35 AM    from Eric Gingras to Everyone:

When we include an attribute within datawarehouse… how can we find out the “Datawarehouse Table Name”  where it will be populated… can you explain the process or logic behind this.

As example I have an attribute (Architectural Fit) from project object – Database Table: odf_ca_inv, Database column obj_align_factor3 , where will it be include in the datawarehouse?

09/10/2015    10:23:18 AM    from Michael Brunak to Everyone:

@Connie. Thanks. What is the specific table in the DWH that would store the new custom Investment attribute value that is tied to a specific Portfolio Plan Investment?

09/10/2015    10:24:48 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Patrick: regarding your 'Best Practice' question. We do not have specific documentation ; but this may be a good question to pose to the larger community for their 'Best Practices' and approaches.

09/10/2015    10:28:23 AM    from John Benfield to Everyone:

Is there any news on when 14.3 will be released?

09/10/2015    10:29:14 AM    from Lynn to Everyone:

@Lowell - MSP 2013 is but not with SP1 - from Support:  Due to the timing of when it was released, MSP 2013 Service Pack 1 has not been tested with the Clarity 13.2 or 13.3 MSP Interface. Since it has not been tested, this also means that it is not supported. It is supported beginnig 14.2  (another note per support:     MSP 2013 Service Pack 1 is not supported for CA PPM 14.1. Reference the Change Impact and Upgrade Guide for CA PPM 14.1 )

09/10/2015    10:29:18 AM    from Damon L. (ca technologies) to Everyone:

@Eric Not sure why locked but my source advises us that Budgeted Benefit can be found in the DWH schema in the dwh_inv_summary_facts.bdgt_benefit table.

09/10/2015    10:30:56 AM    from Patrick to Everyone:

Ok, we find it very time consuming to have to (1) update the primary role on the resource profile, then (2) goto to each individual resource allocation properties page and change the role, (3) then ask the user to update on timesheet or delete the task if already added.   @pat  Would like it best if primary role change prompted system pop-up to ask if all allocations and task assignments can be automatically updated to the new role.

09/10/2015    10:31:42 AM    from Damon L. (ca technologies) to Everyone:

If you need the CA PPM database or data warehouse schema, you can download and search from your desktop here: http://www.ca.com/us/support/ca-support-online/product-content/recommended-reading/product-related-technical-information/ca-ppm-advanced-reporting-and-database-schema-index.aspx

09/10/2015    10:31:57 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Christie: Is it not possible to edit the investment "Progress" attribute?  We'd like to add some custom values but I can't find the lookup.

    Answer:

Lookup Name = Investment Object Progress

    ID = INVESTMENT_OBJ_PROGRESS

This is a system-restricted lookup and you cannot add or delete any of these values.

09/10/2015    10:32:49 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

      @pat: sounds like a good 'Idea' !

09/10/2015    10:32:56 AM    from John W. George (CA Technologies) to Everyone:

@John - Release 14.3  is targeted for late September. You can read more about it here:  https://communities.ca.com/thread/241737586

09/10/2015    10:32:58 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@pat: please post in the communities

09/10/2015    10:33:38 AM    from Christie to Everyone:

      Thanks.

09/10/2015    10:38:08 AM    from Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Michael Brunak: There are portfolio tables as well as investment tables listed in the Data Warehouse Schema spreadsheet, I see one of the tables being PFM_ATTR_REGISTRY among many other tables with names starting with "PFM_". You can pick those most appropriate for your custom reporting need and compare different results

09/10/2015    10:39:54 AM    from Chris Hackett (CA) to Everyone:

@Tai - In order to change your email address on an existing account you should contact Support Online using the contact infor at top of Communities page. US # is 1-800-225-5224

09/10/2015    10:40:13 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

For NSQL constructs - can you combine Dates and Strings in a Crosstab query?

09/10/2015    10:40:39 AM    from Michael Brunak to Everyone:

@Connie. Thanks. The PFM_ATTR_REGISTRY lists the registered attributes configuration information and not the data. What I am looking for specifically is what table stores the values that I enter into this new attribute that is associated with a specific Portfolio Plan Investment. I need to compare this value with the same value in another Portfolio Plan for the same investment.

09/10/2015    10:42:00 AM    from Eric Gingras to Everyone:

@Damon... thank you, but my problem is mostlyu idenfying the ling between the live database attribute and the DWH..  I am spending so much time trying to get an attribute into the DWH or to find where it is available...that for now I gave up to design report using the DWH (I am pulling data from live database)

09/10/2015    10:42:30 AM    from Nick Darlington (CA) to Everyone:

@Lowell if you are referring to having dates and strings in the same column and working equally, you would need to reconcile the data being returned using database functions to convert/cast the column results so they are all the same matching type - the exact approach though really depends on the exact query in question

09/10/2015    10:42:39 AM    from Janet Ulrich to Everyone:

      @Lynn - Thank you!

09/10/2015    10:43:35 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Michael: Look for the type of investment table see these tables PFM_CA_PROJECT or PFM_CA_PROJECT_PLAN for example... does this help you?

09/10/2015    10:43:57 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

@Nick - I have seen examples of using the Date as the definition of the column in a crosstab query, but the grid is filled with numbers.  My customers want to display milestone dates in a grid format joining on project and task attributes

09/10/2015    10:44:13 AM    from Chris Hackett (CA) to Everyone:

OK Everyone - We're finishing up the last few questions. Thank you all for your participation! Please be sure to join us again in October!

09/10/2015    10:44:35 AM    from Eric Gingras to Everyone:

When we manually update the exchange rate (From Admin Financel Menu – Setup/Foreign exchange rate)  I would like to have the exchange rate type default to “average” and the “to Currency” default to USD… where can we configure exchange rate entry default setting..I just could not find the object or view to edit.

09/10/2015    10:45:01 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

How can you allocate at a "team" level?

09/10/2015    10:45:16 AM    from Michael Brunak to Everyone:

@Kathryn. Yes, thanks. Since we added to the Investment object, would it be in the PFM_CA_INV or PFM_CA_INV_PLAN tables? And these are not DWH, I believe. So I would have to use these tables for the values and not the DWH just to confirm.

09/10/2015    10:45:33 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Eric: 'default' for exchange rate entry is not available in current design / you could log an idea on communities

09/10/2015    10:46:25 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Michael : you are right....  We do not see these PFM tables in DWH schema

09/10/2015    10:48:22 AM    from Michael Brunak to Everyone:

      @Kathryn. Thanks again.

09/10/2015    10:48:31 AM    from Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Lowell can you give specifics about the requirement to allocate at team level?

09/10/2015    10:49:32 AM    from Nick Darlington (CA) to Everyone:

@Lowell there's no obvious reason why your dates showed as numbers in that case - I think it deserves closer investigation to provide an explanation, through a support ticket perhaps

09/10/2015    10:50:39 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

Managers don't want to allocate to each individual resource.  They want to allocate for their team/role, specific to a team.... but, we've tried assigning to "roles", but roles don't report to specific managers....

09/10/2015    10:50:58 AM    from Kathryn Ellis (CA) to Everyone:

@Michael: Only Portfolio 'header' information is in DWH ; not the investment level data yet.... "it may be in a future release"

09/10/2015    10:51:12 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

@Nick - thanks! - I think I'm running into a limitation of Oracle query analyzer

09/10/2015    10:52:09 AM    from Chris Hackett (CA) to Everyone:

Thanks again everyone! See you back here in October!

09/10/2015    10:53:09 AM    from Lynn to Everyone:

@ Lowell did you try on the team tab: Actions >Set Allocations? We had our IT managers allocate their staff on the IT buckets that way so that they did not have to do one by one.  They can select all or specific individuals. That may help but not 100% sure I understand the need.

09/10/2015    10:54:42 AM    from Connie Fu (CA) to Everyone:

@Lowell depending on the specific requirements for each 'team' (group of resources), you could also try adding staff by OBS?

09/10/2015    10:54:57 AM    from Lowell Wetzel to Everyone:

@Lynn - I may need to bring up the question at the CA World - our users want something a little different

09/10/2015    10:55:40 AM    from Lynn to Everyone:

@ Lowell - also, and on that team tab, you can filter on the resource OBS if the project has multiple teams. I like the Top- down investment portlet. You can filter on your team and knock out the project easily since it opens a project in a pop-up.  Our IT managers allocated their teams very quickly that way and they had specific allocation "rules" including the booking status..

09/10/2015    10:55:42 AM    from Chris Hackett (CA) to Everyone:

      Bye Everyone!
