Has anyone used the PostgreSQL 9.2 Database Cluster feature and had CA APM/CEM connected to a PostgreSQL cluster (one database, multiple hosts)

So there seems to be some functionality within the Postgresql 9.2 version but the question is, has anyone attempted, was successful/failed and what issues or discoveries did you make during your travels down this path?

Hi We are also looking at this and have enabled EM failover and looking to configure postgres as a hot standby - is this a supported solution ?

 

As it stands with the EM in hot standby when the primary EM stops the secondary EM takes over - but in the case where you lose the whole server - would the secondary EM know to connect to the secondary postgres db ?

Hi Andy,

I think you can make a postgres HA and configure DNS server for EMs to point to the second postgres in case of failover but this is not a supported solution. We support Oracle RAC as APM DB and it has the failover mechanism. So, Oracle RAC seems to be an alternative approach.
