  • 1.  url monitoring through url_response probe

    Hi Folks,

In our environment we are monitoring a url hosted on proxy server with url_response probe 4.30version using user authentication .

We see that the url is getting loaded within 2-3 secs in a browser but we are getting the error "URL response for 'ProfileName' 'https://abcd.com' is 42030 ms, which exceeds the threshold (8000 ms)".

Can you please let us know why the probe is taking more time to get the url and monitor it. It is happening very frequently and hence need your suggestion to avoid unnecessary triggering of this alert. FYI, we are using ca uim 8.5.1 version.

Please get back to us ASAP.
    Regards,
    Padmaja

This sounds like an intermittent network/server performance issue.
You can set the loglevel 5  logs on the probe and set the logsize to 75000 and then review the timing over several polling periods to try and understand what is happening.
You may need to engage your server admin and network teams to do a network capture outside the probe to see if you are seeing the same behavior when the alarm is raised.

I would also suggest updating to the latest version and see if that makes any difference. The version you are running if from 2016

    Hi Gene Howard,

Thanks for your response. But we are facing this error only on one profile in the url_response probe.
All other profiles are working good and as expected. There are also other urls hosted on proxy servers but we are facing this issue only on one particular url which is hosted on a proxy server.

However i will check by increasing the log size and get back to you with further quires if any.

    Agree with Gene,
    things to add:
for the testing to be valid it has to be done via browser running on the robot hosting url_repsonse.
i.e. need to remote into that system for valid testing.
might be helpful to deploy icmp at that robot and have it monitor the problem and a working instance for comparison.
