  • 1.  Can we run multiple releases of agents simultaneously?

We are running 11.3 release and are upgrading to 12.2. Can both agent versions be used concurrently to the same destination (eg our SAP development system)?

    Hi Thomas,
When you say agent, what version of agent are you currently running?
We have DE versions 11.3 and R12.x currently available.  The current GA versions for WA Agents are 11.3, 11.4 and 11.5.
Agent and DE are two separate services.  You can run multiple agents like 11.3 and 11.4 and they all can work with R12.x DE.

Hi, Nitin. We are currently running DE 11.3 1406 and are beginning to setup a new landscape for 12.2 to which we will migrate. we want to setup in parallel so that our existing 11.3 1406 landscape is connected to all of our servers (such as SAP) and also have the new 12.2 landscape setup to also connect to the same servers (SAP). In this way we can keep running our production on 11.3 while we setup and test the new 12.2 system to be sure that it can correctly access the systems for a seamless migration.

    Hi Thomas,
Yes you can run 11.3 and R12 instances.  You can add the existing agents of 11.3 to new R12 instance.  A WA Agent can work with multiple managers/scheduler/DE instances.  You migrate your applications slowly overtime or use the migration utility to migrate all the artifacts (11.3 -> R12).  You can migrate all but start only what you want in R12, a phased approach.
Note: You may want to run 11.3 and R12 on separate hosts.  Preferably install R12 on latest supported OS's and use a newer DB.

Here is a Youtube video that you watch for some more details.

    Thanks,
