  • 1.  System Agent Support on RHEL 8

    Hi Team,

We are running AE r 11.3.6 SP4.  Have this Linux Redhat 8.  Based on the compatibility matrix, only 11.5 and 12.0  agent support RHEL 8.  But unfortunately, r11.5 and 12.0 agent does not support AE r11.3.6 SP8.

Would like to explore Remote Execution Plugin.  Is Remote Execution Plugin compatibility depends on the OS where it is installed or on the OS where the batch jobs i.e. the script is running on?

    Hi,

The 11.3.6 SP8 version has documented that the 11.5 agent is supported, I suspect it hasn't been updated for the R12 agent yet: https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/intelligent-automation/workload-automation-ae-and-workload-control-center/11-3-6-SP8/release-notes/ae-release-notes/ae-compatibility-matrix.html#concept.dita_4c35f849f3dcb6176a3bbbe24cd9d055e93d78b8_AgentCompatibilityMatrix

    Hi Michael,

Our plan to upgrade to r11.3.6 SP8 is still early stage.

As interim solution, is the following supported for executing SHELL Script on remote RHEL8 System?

    1.  Identify fresh RHEL 7 server and install it with
    • System Agent r11.4 SP1
    • Remote Execution Plug-In r11.4 SP1

    2.  Define PROXY Job using System Agent per item#1

    Hi Hock,

For an agent, you can use 11.5 and higher for RHEL8 and as Joe mentions, you can use the R12 agent with 11.3.6 as well.
I think that will be easier for you than switching to the proxy job type for a short period.

    Regards,
    Mike

    Hello,

If this is still relevant, we're successfully using the 12.0 agent with our 11.3.6 SP8 instance on Linux 7 and Linux 8.
The Broadcom documentation has been updated with this information.
