Error when splitting a User Story

  • 1.  Error when splitting a User Story

    Hello!  I just had a SM call me that her team had a story they were not able to finish this iteration and they chose to split it. They followed the split procedure and got an error message that read "Story Splitting Failed: [unfinished] <then the user story name> could not be created:  Error setting value for field [Unified Parent] Allowed types are [Hierarchical Requirement.PortfolioItem/Feature" (it actually showed the story name, for these purposes, that is not necessary).

    Any thoughts?  They choose not to create a parent story on purpose, but why are they getting this error?

    The team is preparing for end of iteration which is TOMORROW, so any feedback is appreciated.  Thanks!

    My team has reported the same issue as well. Iteration is ending today in our case. 
    I think I'll just have a support ticket created.

    As of yesterday afternoon there was a defect opened, DE61333 - Error When Splitting Stories.  It was almost ready to be tested when I checked on it at 4:22pm EST.

    Thank you Jarrod. We are experiencing the same here at Change Healthcare. I have not opened a ticket. Will this thread be updated when there is another update? Or is there another manner in which we can be added, so I am alerted when it's resolved?

    Is there an SLA on when this will be fixed.  Our teams are significantly impacted by this since this is their last day of iteration.  I wish they had finished everything and this was not an issue, but alas, some teams had stories they want to split.

    DE61333 shows as closed.  Be sure to logout/login then confirm whether you are still seeing this issue.
