Initializing planned start and end dates

Our organization is relatively new to using Rally and one adoption issue we have is getting the everyone to correctly fill in all of the fields.  Is there a way to have Rally initialize the planned start and end dates based for Epics and Features based on the assigned iterations of the underlying stories?  For instance, once the team completes increment planning, can we have Rally go in and initialize the planned start and end dates based on the dates of the iterations that the stories are in?

Hi John,

We do not have an automatic way of setting portfolio dates from the child stories. The only thing we could do is show you everything so you could identify the areas where scheduling is not correct. 

The Release Tracking page is a good place to start, it will give you warning triangles for things not right. Or you could have a look at the custom app here for help: https://github.com/nikantonelli/PortfolioItemTimeLine It will show the titles of things in red if parents or children are out of sequence.
