A Broadcom employee replied on a separate forum that this parenthetical value is a roll up from children projects. The documentation was never updated for this enhancement.
The third number, in Parenthesis, is reflecting the aggregation (or roll-up) of just Child Projects in the currently defined scope; NOT including the currently selected Project.

Subject: Release Planning board calculations - what's the parenthetical number?
Hi David,
This is just a guess, since we don't have the new UI yet, but is it the *number* of user stories/defects?As opposed to the points?
Curious,
Leah

Some users have started reporting that the Release Planning page's velocity/estimation has started to feature an additional number. We know that the format is
[total of feature preliminary estimate points] of [user set velocity]
but shows in some projects/ARTs as
[total of feature preliminary estimate points] of [user set velocity] (???)
What's that last number? The documentation page says nothing. (Broadcom, please take for action -- update your docs!)
