  • 1.  Federated authentication in different browsers

    Posted Jul 01, 2020 04:18 AM

    Hello,

I'm having trouble with the federation feature of SSO.

Federated authentication has been successful with Internet Explorer.
If you change the browser to Edge, federated authentication fails.

    [Question ①]
Is there any federation knowledge when using different browsers?

    [Question ②]
Are there any bugs, settings, etc. that affect Edge Federation when using Edge?

    Regards.

    Hi Haruka,

It is most likely the Edge browser settings driving this problem.  Federation authentication works much like regular SSO in Siteminder in which a session cookie is issued to the browser upon successful authentication, thus the browser must be able to accept/present this cookie.  Cross-site redirects also occur, including cross-site POST requests, so the browser's security settings need to allow these redirects between IDP/SP.

If you provide some details about the nature of the failure with Edge, we may be able to identify the likely cause/solution.  If you take a Fiddler or other http trace with both browsers, it should help you to understand what is going wrong with the Edge browser.

    Regards,
