    Symantec + CA Security

By now, you might have heard about Broadcom's recent acquisition of Symantec. Symantec is now a division of Broadcom, and the CA Security solutions are part of the new Symantec Enterprise Division, which includes Information Security, Endpoint Security, Web & Email Security, and Identity Security. Identity Security includes Identity Management, Authentication, Access Management, and Privileged Access Management. The Layer7 API Management team remained with the Enterprise Software Division.

This transition brings together market-leading security solutions from CA Technologies and Symantec into one integrated cyber defense platform. We believe that together, we will be able to provide solutions to many of the security challenges your organization is facing today. You can expect differentiated capabilities in areas such as:

    • Zero trust security
    • Full integration of solutions across the tech stack
    • Cohesive coverage from on-premises to cloud
    • Seamless protection across all form factors
    • Robust detection and incident resolution technologies with reduced cost and complexity
    • Machine learning and analytics powered by threat intelligence from the world's largest civilian threat collection network

    Greetings,

What is then the official name of the product? "Layer 7 Siteminder", "Broadcom SSO", or "Symantec Access Management"?

    HI Alejandro,

Today the official product name is Layer7 SiteMinder.

When CA Technologies was acquired by Broadcom, the Security business unit made a decision to change the name of the products to use "Layer7" as a common prefix. That decision and the process of making that change occurred before the Symantec acquisition was initiated.

As noted below, with this current acquisition of Symantec completed, the CA Security products have been merged with the Symantec products to form the Symantec Enterprise Division. It is possible that this merged organization will result in an additional name change for the product.

The Symantec Access Management name is an umbrella name used to refer to SiteMinder + the Advanced Authentication products in the portfolio.
