During migration of 14.1 to 17.1 in a swingbox environment the 'Configuring CA Service Catalog - MDB' step failed due to collation issue. When we fix the issue and tried to 'Retry Installation' we got an error saying 'Auto Discovery of existing CA Service Catalog failed'. Now we are unable to proceed as the next button is greyed out.

I was strapped for time and decided to restore SQL via backup and snapshot the VM back to redo the migration process.
