  • 1.  How to configure APM's Data Importer locale to use UTF8?

    Posted Oct 08, 2018 07:41 AM

I used non english characters (öüóőúáűéí) in SDM/APM Contact name, Cost Center, Organization name etc.

When I try to load APM Assets with some connected information as Owner, Cost Center, etc. the APM loader can not understant UTF8 source file data. Always complain about No records found.

When the csv file's Cost Center column includes some special characters than the error message says: " No records found for Cost Center - HR kltsghely "   Original text: 'HR költséghely'

I can not set UTF8 in the Data File Locale.

Is there any idea how to load data?

    Regards, Gábor

ITAM Data Importer and foreign language characters

Foreign language characters are not being passed to the database correctly when using the ITAM Data Importer.

The special characters (ie.ń,ż,ń) are being replaced with '?' when read from a csv and loaded into the database via the ITAM Data Importer.

If the data is added thru the Asset Porfolio Management GUI, the foreign language characters will show correctly.

    Solution:

This problem is isolated to Microsoft Excel and the source file that contains the foreign language characters.

    Steps to correct the problem:

    1. Open source file in Excel

    2. File -> save as -> choose (Comma Delimited) CSV

    3. click Tools -> Web Options

    4. Click Encoding tab

    5. In the 'Save this document as:' choose Unicode (UTF-8)

    6. Click Yes to the incompatibility message and save.

    7. Use the new encoded csv as the source file for the ITAM Data Importer

    Hi Sefoudine,

    Thanks the answer.

I tried to do this many thimes but now I checked the saved excel file and even that I saved as UTF8 the csv file was ANSI coded.

I converted the content to UTF8 with Notepad++ and I could load the data.
