  • 1.  CA SDM installation failure on Server2K12 R2

    Posted Jul 08, 2016 07:17 AM

    Hi,

I am new to the CA Service Desk Manager. When I'm trying to install CA Service Desk Manager 14.1 on Windows Server 2012 R2 standard edition, with a domain user, who have full permission for doing anything, also there is no IT Policy, the installation fails when integrating the products. But if I installed it with a local system administrator, installation completed successfully without any errors. Please see below the attachments ( screenshot & install log )

So, my question is where is the exact problem? Please help me.

    Hi Tirthankar,

We always recommend using a local administrator account to do the installation. There are tons of policies that can be in place at the user level even though there are no policies pushed to the box itself, so its very difficult to tell you exactly which one or what setting may be causing the issue for you.  One thing you can also try if you have not already is try using the domain user, but right click on setup.exe and select "run as administrator" - we always recommend doing that on Windows 2008 or 2012 environments.  Give that a try and let us know if that works.

    Thanks,

    Jon I.

    Tirthankar,

Do you have any firewall restrictions on the server?    During the integration step, I see this block

    Hello!

I think there is some problem with the java path in your machine. After installing with domain user, are you able to run pdm_status command? If you are not able to run then it is an issue with the user you are installing.

    Thanks,

    Anil P

Thanks to all for the kind suggestions, but still SDM is not installed on Windows Server 2012 R2 on D drive for me. So, now I've decided to install it on C drive with administrator account.

Did you enable 8.3 file names on the D: drive before you attempted to install?
