Does anyone know if when installing CA SM 14.1 are there any issues change the MDB name to another name?  I would like to call it MDB_PRD.

We had issues when we installed a new server directly to SDM 14.1.02 and wanted to use mdb141 as the name so it could reside on the same SQL server instance during migration.  The issue was with a supporting file for pdm_configure which was updated in SDM 14.1.01 but was not correct in .02.  This appeared only after initial configuration on the Primary when we went back to add a Secondary server.

CA support provided a test fix which was essentially the .01 version.

Note, as a rule, I would not use an underscore in a SQL name.  Just an old habit.

    Frank,

To add to J.W.'s notes, this is tied to this problem information below. You would want to perform the 14.1 install, then apply Cumulative 2, but not perform the post step pdm_configure. Then open a Support request to get the test fix for 14.1.02 associated to Problem number 3174, apply the fix, then you will be able to perform the pdm_configure to complete the cumulative 2 steps.

Title:  ERRORS IN PDM_CONFIGURE WITH DATABASE NAME OTHER THAN MDB

While installing Service Desk Manager 14.1, in the "MS SQL Database Config"

page setting database name other than  'mdb'  results in inability to select

a predefined Configuration on the Configurations page.

Similar behaviour is seen while running Service Desk Configuration using

    pdm_configure.

Following errors can be observed in configure.log:

"ERROR UspServerInfo.java 262 Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Server Native

Client 11.0 : Login failed for user 'mdbadmin'..

"DEBUG ? ? Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 : Login

    failed for user 'mdbadmin'.."

"ERROR UspServerInfo.java 262 Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Server Native

Client 11.0 : Cannot open database "mdb" requested by the login. The login

    failed."

"DEBUG ? ? Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 : Cannot

open database "mdb" requested by the login. The login failed.."

    Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Install Service Desk Manager 14.1 or run pdm_configure.

    2. In the "MS SQL Database config" page. Enter a text other than 'mdb' in

    'Database Name' textbox.

    3. Click on 'Next'.

    Result:

    1. Installation continues but you will see the above errors in the configure

    log.

    2. If additional SDM configurations were defined, they will not be available

in the configuration dropdown of pdm_configure."

For Catalog I would recommend taking a look at the following:

    Hi Frank,

From the ITAM perspective, there are no issues with renaming the mdb at installation time.
