Is anyone familiar with getting Account Usage data to populate using the product recognition preprocessor in Software Asset Manager?  If so, please outline the highlevel steps.

    Thanks

There are some requirements for the Account Usage to be displayed:

    - the User <> Device relation is provided;

    - the User has an associated Account in the system;

    - the Reference Basis of the License Metric for the product in question is 'User'.

    Hope that helps.

    - the User <> Device relation is provided; The User is linked with device

    - the User has an associated Account in the system; The User Account is available

    - the Reference Basis of the License Metric for the product in question is 'User'. The Reference Basis is correct.

Even when testing the Recognition Rule, account and device both are visible in the results.

Still no Usages by accounts are getting generated.

Looks like a Bug in the system to me.

    Any Known Errors available ?

    Regards,

    Sahil

    Hi Sahil,

How are you importing the "Account Usage data" into CA SAM, i.e. which format CSV file?

Does it succeed to import if you import it manually using the correct method, i.e. do you see the records in CA SAM after the import succeeds?

    Thanks,

    John

We have ITCM Connectors that fetch the raw inventory into the system and then we are getting the effective demand and Installations calculated on Product Recognition.

However, it gives warning "no account found for this device" for Named User License Metric Products.

But when I check the recognition rule by testing it, I can see account and Device Name in the Test Results.

Looks like a product Bug to me. Already raised a case with CA Support but so far no solution.

    Regards,

    Sahil

Please include screen shots or point towards your support ticket if it already includes all the documentation and outlines exactly what you consider to be a product issue, and I will take a look.

E.g. when you view the devices do you see login information in the Login column like:

My best guess is that either the User or the Account associated with the device does not have a value for Import ID.

Please ensure you have a value on this field for both objects and run the Product Recognition again to see whether the problem gets resolved.

Yes the Import ID was not available for accounts that were created.

I have assigned the import IDs as the Account Name and Run the Product Recognition again.

Will Update as soon as this is completed.

Alexandre_Almeida Is there a CA SAM Developers Community? Is there no developer documentation available for CA SAM ?

    Hi Sahil,

There is no CA SAM Developers Community, I'm afraid.

CA SAM implementation should only be done once you have gone through a training or you should engage Services to help you with this.

When you add information manually to the system you are not required to input any information for Import ID, but for any data load via Import or with the use of a connector in Data Exchange the Import ID is always required as this is the field that identifies the record.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards,

    Alex

I found that when we add a record manually, we need to add Import ID manually, it is not getting generated manually.

Neither via manual input nor via automated import the import ID will get generated automatically. The connectors normally use a field from the source database as the import id, but you can change that to suit your needs.
