    Hi Team,

we needed to upgrade from APM 10.5 to 10.7 as 10.5 is going EOS.

Will it be a in-place upgrade or we need to install fresh APM 10.7
What are the necessary steps that we need to keep in mind during the upgrade to make it successful.

currently APM 10.5 is installed on linux servers

Thanks for the help in advance

We did an in-place upgrade on five CA APM clusters (about 45 servers) from 10.5.2 to 10.7.0 SP3 without any major issues. The last couple of APM upgrades have been very smooth. We clear out the traces files, ensure we have enough space in /tmp for the installation files, and enough extra space on the CA APM filesystem for the rollback (backup) files. Then the upgrades worked well. We never needed to rollback, and removed those files a week later.

Only time you have to be careful, is if you have used CEM and added some users to access the cemdb Database. In that case, these users have to be removed imperatively (completely, including grants etc.) or the DB schema upgrade will fail.

A part from that, no issues to be expected. Smooth :)

In case, if the APM 10.7 upgrade process does not recognize the existing EM 10.5.x installation, please refer:
