  • 1.  any idea why a Websphere agent for mainframe would not report CPU metrics ?

    These are the versions:

    EM version: 9.7

    IMB JVM 1.6

    Java version: 1.6

    Operating System: z/OS

Does one have to "ACTIVATE' the CPU to get its metrics ?

Because platform monitoring is not support on z/OS.

There is no Platform Monitor but there is a z/OS extension that you can use under "New" agent mode.  This will allow you to measure process CPU and zAAP time as well as method and servlet CPU time.  There are also a number of other z/OS metrics that can be gathered.

This download is generally only available if you have the MVS product offering in your download catalog which always required a separate entitlement process.

Have you enabled JMX? See if any mbean is reporting any CPU usage metric.
