Hi Manjit,
As per my understanding, SMB is a client-server protocol and CA DevTest doesn't have any out-of-the-box support for it. However, you can explore the TCP based virtualization in this case as SMB uses TCP underneath.
For file read and write you can use test cases within CA DevTest, however, I would not recommend the same for volume testing as the read-write operations consume lots of resources in case of PDF's you have to save them in byte format( or you can generate the files outside your volume testing setup and use the same batch for volume testing )
Thanks

Subject: Virtualization of Windows File Servers running SMB protocol
Hello Everyone. Has anyone done virtualization of a File Server that uses Windows Fileshare using SBM or can make any suggestions for a workaround solution? Client is testing Onbase application that reads/writes files (PDF mainly) to a File Server and would like to simulate reading/writing files of varying sizes/payloads for volume testing. Any/all suggestions appreciated.
