  • 1.  8.5.0 workstation/vse interoperability with 8.3.0 registry

    we have a  topology with dashboard on one system (8.3.0)

    registry on another (8.3.0)

    and multiple vse's and workstations on other systems..

     

    we want to upgrade to 8.5

     

    but we suddenly cannot logon to the registry anymore

     

    8.5 client app to 8.3 registry..  logon failed with userid admin

     

    help..  we can't change everything at once..

     

    was this a known problem, I don't see it listed anywhere...

    if you use the 8.5 registry installed on the same system as the workstation/vse it is ok, but.. you cannot deploy changes to the OTHER VSE connected to the 8.3 registry

    (can't toggle registry, etc)  you would have to save the file and maybe use the web registry UI to redeploy..

    support says that this should not work, and we have been luck so far.  booooooo

     

    downlevel parts to uplevel components is ok 8.1 registry to 8.3 dashboard, 8.3 workstation to 8.5 registry, but not the other way.

     

    this is not what we believed and messes up our entire deployment and maintenance strategy...
