I just installed 4.9 and would like to use the new FORMATLUHN function, however with the ability to introduce a parameter.

I am able to exclude characters, however the excluded characters are not part of the Luhn calculation after masking.

Would it be possible to modify FORMATLUHN to exclude the first character in the masking, but still have it used in the calculation?

Currently for this value I am running FORMATENCRYPT and then a custom algorithm to ensure the first character is not 0 or 8, and then calculating the last digit to be luhn compliant.

Thank you very much for the patch!
    It works great.

This is a much better alternative to mask Canadian SIN numbers with consistency across DBs
