  • 1.  Self-service execution of FDM masking scripts

    Dear Community,

We have below use case for masking execution with Fast Data Masker:

    • We have existing masking scripts developed with FDM v4.7 for an application database
    • Currently we execute masking by connecting FDM to database from a centralized tool server where FDM is installed
    • We would like to provide ability to application users to execute these masking scripts by themselves from their own machines (without login into centralized FDM tool server or installing complete tool on their individual machines)
    We have below query:
    • Can these FDM scripts be provided for self-service execution over Test Data Manager portal without re-writing (or with minimal config)?
    • Alternately, can these FDM scripts be provided for self-service execution with a Javelin workflow?
Please let us know if across similar scenario or ideas how this can be achieved.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Hi,

You could create a self service form to initiate a javelin flow to run the masking job, this would mean minimal changes to the FDM scripts but you would need to have experience with Javelin. If you are using TDM 4.8 or above you could use the portal masking feature but you would need to recreate the masking rules in the portal as we don't currently have the option to import existing FDM scripts. Once the masking rules are created in the portal your application users could initiate there own masking jobs.

    Hi Keith,

    Thank you for your response.
Since there are hundreds of masking rules and multiple applications-databases, it seems Javelin option you have mentioned will be more practical.

Could you please suggest if attached schematic understanding is correct?
On Developer/Tester desktop (A) if any TDM Tool component like Javelin and any libraries are required to be installed?

    Thank you.
