    Hi All,

We developed some custom functionalities which let you use all TDM Mainframe Add-on functionalities through CA Test Data Manager Portal (also through DataMaker).

Basically, It lets you to submit and run Mainframe jobs to UNLOAD and LOAD masked data from source DB2 system to target DB2 system. You can submit those jobs from CA TDM Portal and get any information (Status, Return Codes, Execution Steps, Audits, Reports etc) about Mainframe jobs submitted in the back round. That means any data requester can run that masking/subsetting jobs without the knowledge of Mainframe. That makes TDM to be used more widely and effectively.

By using this customization, you don't need to connect Mainframe terminal directly through 3270 emulator.

For further information, please feel free to contact me.

This is very interesting. it will be helpful if you tell us how the designed these self service flows. Did you use Javelin to connect to MF?.

    Hi,

Javelin has the orchestrator role in here. It orchestrates all necessary steps to trigger MF jobs. There is also some custom code development behind it.

    Best,

Also recommend looking at CA Brightside which has APIs to do the job submission and output retrieval.

That's right. TDM has now similar but not same functionality. Glad to inspire product management to develop that functionality after having several webex sessions about the idea. However still needs some improvement to get rid of some manual operations. Special thanks to Walter Guerrero!

    Hi Cihan,

At our organization we are also starting to work with mainframe applications.

    so we have below questions:
    1. do we need to install any additional things before starting this exercise ex: tools like FDM/IMS integrator etc.
    2. we will have the mainframe files of which we need to subset the data.
    3. we would like to know if we could execute the subset JCL's via TDM portal or Data maker (Javelin as the orchestrator)

    please suggest .
