CA TDM / FDM feasibility to mask Azure SQL Database (Cloud)

Hi All,

 

We have a requirement to perform data masking on SQL Database hosted on Azure Cloud. We are looking out for the below two possible approaches.

 

1. Installing TDM/Fast Data Masker(FDM) components on Azure cloud platform and perform data masking
2. Using the already available data masking components installed on a remote server and perform data masking of Azure SQL database hosted on cloud by connecting to cloud

 

Currently we are looking out for any support on how CA masking tools will help interact with databases hosted on cloud.

Any document related to this will be highly appreciated.

My question is related to CA Test Data Manager. We are looking out for capabilities of CA Datamaker(TDM) or Fast Data Masker tool to connect to cloud and perform data masking.on Azure SQL database.

Hi Mohammed, 

 

I see that you opened a support case on this as well. Currently there are no connectors to use with TDM/FDM and any cloud platforms.

 

Here is a list of supported data sources for TDM/FDM: Supported Data Sources - CA Test Data Manager - 4.0 - CA Technologies Documentation 

 

You may be able to use Javelin to help you achieve your goals, but you would need to with CA Services in order to help you with this implementation. As long as you are using one of our supported data sources, it should not matter if it is local or in the cloud, as long as the TDM server can connect. Just "extracting" the data would be more a job for an ETL utility. If you are looking to push generated data or subset/mask existing data, CA Services can help you achieve this.
