How to query AD LDAP using CARA Actions?

We're looking to make AD LDAP calls within a CA Release Automation (CARA) workflow and I don't see any action packs available for doing simple things like group/member verification.
Has anyone come up with a way to do this with any existing actions?
The closest I can come up with is scripting using ldapsearch or powershell LDAP commands to parse the output, but this is dependent on each agent having those capabilities and having to get the output specifically..

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your post. It would be great to hear how others manage this. I, personally, haven't heard of any specific action packs that do this. To have a platform independent action pack I believe would mean writing it in Java. Maybe someone did that. I know the SDK was around for some time.
