Can anyone help me setup the ServiceNow Approval gate?

I have been asked to set up the approval process between Nolio and ServiceNow but I am not sure what I have to do to make the connection. I have no ServiceNow experience and I have to send some requirements to the ServiceNow team but I have no idea what to ask them. I am really just interested in the approval gate process where we type in the Change Ticket number and ServiceNow responds back with whether or not the ticket has been approved. Here is a list of questions I have...

 

     - do I need to install the ServiceNow Action pack for Nolio?

     - do I need to install some API's to ServiceNow?

     - what is the format of the url I need to send to ServiceNow?

     - is this a REST or SOAP type of interaction? 

 

Any kind of help would be appreciated!

If you want to build an approval process and would like to communicate with service now , than its good idea to use the SN action pack , however CA RA provide built in integration with service now for approval gate.

Did you look at the integration guideline?

I have read all the documentation provided by CA and I'm only looking to

set up the built-in approval gate integration with ServiceNow.

Unfortunately, I am not sure which plugins or actions I need to install to

make this work. Can you help me answer the following questions.....

This is all internal to CA Release Automation.  You just need to provide the standard URL for logging in.  This to be set in ROC->Environment->Approval tab

Not sure but whatever the standard interface offered by Servicenow

I had a follow-up question if you don't mind...

 

"Do you know what has to be enabled on ServiceNow to allow the approval

gate connection to take place?"  Currently we are getting HTTP 500

errors...

If you are getting a 500 error from ServiceNow, that means SN is not allowing the calls from RA, so either it needs authentication or some kind of certificate…..you’ll need to look on the SN side to see why the connection was refused…….then we can give some additional ideas….
