New UX Links to external Pages

    Hello every one,

I have one question regarding links in new ux.

I read the release notes for 15.6

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-ppm/15-6/en/using/getting-started-with-the-new-user-experience/new-user-experience-manage-the-project-lifecycle/new-user-experience-project-documents-and-links

Tip: Because the raw URLs use dynamic variables, you can copy and paste them to multiple projects or use the same links in blueprints for consistency among all your projects. Hover over a link to see the resolved URL.

In the tip I understood that links could be configured in the blueprint?

Could someone show us how? Thanks very much

    Hi Andreas,

The links can be configured in blueprint, hope this document will help https://docops.ca.com/ca-ppm/15-6/en/using/getting-started-with-the-new-user-experience/new-user-experience-administration-and-configuration/new-user-experience-configure-blueprints-for-projects-and-investments

We will try to come up with some videos on this too.

    Regards

    Suman Pramanik

    HI Suman,

thanks .. if I read the page .. you mean with external links the channels?

But my question is related to the "Links" Page. Is this page also configurable via blueprint?

    Hi Andreas,

I had a similar concern as well. I couldn't configure links through blueprints.

So, here is what I did.

    1. Created a project template and linked the Project template to the Standard blueprint.
    2. Created links on the Project Template

I now see that everytime a project is created from the Project Template, the links are indeed copied over. So, this works for me.

The documentation isn't clear on configuring links through blueprints. There are guidelines around channels only. So, would love to see if there is a way to configure links on a blueprint directly (would be a very useful feature if it exists). Else, I would have to create links on all templates (if I would like them to be copied over to the project).

Do let me know if my suggested workaround worked for you.

    Thanks,

    Regards,

    Debroop

Just a quick add - I had to first create the project, add the links in the New UI and then mark it as a template.

So, here are revised set of steps:

    1. Created a project and add links (using the New UI).
    2. Mark the Project as a template and associate it to your chosen bluprint.

Excellent feedback Debroop, thank you. I edited the docops topic to make it more clear. You are indeed correct. The CHANNEL modules in blueprints support direct links (Channel URLs) added by admins for users to view dynamic targets without leaving the current Project page. And the LINKS module in blueprints supports reuse of dynamic links in one or more templates that propagate to all derivative projects.

I've added Links in my project template and associated to a blueprint.
Newly created project from the template get the links page.

How can I propagate the links page to existing projects that are usign the same blueprint?
