    Hi

    I am testing the CA PPM upgrade from 12.1 to 14.2

    • A Sandbox was created for testing purpose and the Clarity PPM directory was copied to the new Windows Server 2012 R2 ( Sandbox).

    • Java 6 and Tomcat 5.5.17 was installed.

    When we call NIKU to start the CA Clarity we got the following error on the command propmt ( CMD is being run as administrator):

    \Common was unexpected at this time.

    Has anyone run into this problem ?

    Thanks

    Hi Suman,

    Because this is a copy of the 12.1 environment there is no SERVICE available yet. Need to start first old Clarity before upgrading to version 14.2.

    Hi Joni,

    Please ensure that the environmental variables are set correctly for JAVA_HOME, NIKU_HOME and PATH. The system variables should not interfere with user variables if you have any. Even best to set them all as system variables.

    Also, if you have any symbols such as () in your environmental variables PATH, it's recommended to cut/paste the full entry in Notepad, and enclosing those paths with double quotes. Example steps:

    1. Go to Control Panel - User Accounts as Administrator (or the user that starts Clarity)
    2. Open Environmental Varibles
    3. Select the value of System variable PATH, cut and paste in Notepad (this is just an example!):
    %JAVA_HOME%\bin;%NIKU_HOME%\bin;c:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\CAWIN\;%SystemRoot%\system32;

    Put double quotes around the ones that contain ():

    %JAVA_HOME%\bin;%NIKU_HOME%\bin;"c:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\CAWIN\";%SystemRoot%\system32;
    4. Replace the path entry, Save
    5. Restart your CMD prompt and try again.

    It's very important to actually reopen Command Prompt after modifying the variables in order the change to be taken in consideration.

    Please let me know how it goes!

    Kind Regards

    Thanks Nika,

    the problem was in the () symbol. Enclosing with double quotes solve the problem.

    Best Regards,
