Question on role capacity segments in Portfolio XOG

  • 1.  Question on role capacity segments in Portfolio XOG

    Posted 04-07-2015 02:06 PM

    I am looking to build a process that will XOG in the current available capacity for roles into a portfolio plan to show up on the Targets page.  Basically I will do a SQL query to determine what the remaining available # of FTEs is per role factoring out all approved projects resources associated to the roles are booked to.

    I XOGed out a test portfolio to see how the structure is set up and I am trying to understand how it is getting the values for the segments.  See example:

    These numbers are really large and also don't fit neatly into even monthly segments as they appear on the Targets page.  I'd like to know what these values are based on as I've tried many different mathematical equations trying to look at the totals and never seem to get close.

    <Role code="ANALYST_BUSINESS" target="0.0">

    Seconds? I.e. divide by 3600 to get Hours?

    Can you give an example of the value you expect? E.g. what capacity do you expect for Business Analyst for Jan?

    I’m expecting 111 BA’s for Jan.

    That seems crazy that it would be down to seconds.

    2 questions:

    - What do you expect the 'remaining capacity' to be for Jan

    - What are your default 'hrs per day'

    I haven’t worked on what I expect remaining capacity to be yet.

    I’m just trying to figure out first where the XOG is getting those numbers from so I can understand how to code the remaining capacity.

    When I look at the Targets page on the Portfolio right now and hit the Populate Capacity button for the roles, the Business Analyst role shows values between 109 – 112 per month.

    I’m also trying to understand why the XOG shows what seems to be random segments of 2-4 days.

    As for default hours per day it’s 8.
