TEWS amd SOAP

In our environment we use different tasks via TEWS / SOAP (for example password recovery or role assignment)
I have thow questions

* For some tasks (for example Modify Role Members) I didn't understand how to check the outcome. Can you give me some suggestions?
* Is there  a way to do a TASK/TEWS that return something? Such as a User Profile?
