  • 1.  Spectrum port Admin Status is "9"

    Hi all,

Not seen this before. We have a router's Ethernet port that is not connected but also not shutdown and in Spectrum we have put it into maintenance.

In the interface list it is appearing with an Admin Status of 9. What is 9? :)

    Thanks in advance.

    JB.

    JB,

Right mouse click on the model in Spectrum and select Utilities -> MIB Tools from the menu.

Then, query the ifAdminStatus attribute in the interfaces mib. Does the query return a value of 9 for this interface?

    Hi Joe,

Here's the current Spectrum status of the interface:
The MIB query for the description shows that our dodgy interface is definitely index '4'.
The admin status claims the interface is down(2):
The oper status also says down(2):

But Spectrum says the admin is '9' and the oper is 'UP' - I think that maybe when you place an interface into maintenance there is a bug in the logic for the admin/oper status?

They should either reflect the current status from the MIB query (preferred) or at the very least also track the Spectrum status and be set to "maintenance" (not ideal). Scrub that idea - it doesn't make any sense, it is the real status for the port that the device believes not what Spectrum believes.

Seems, the interface is model is applied with maintenance schedule before Spectrum polls the current status of it and hence, it is showing the values before the maintenance schedule is applied on it.

When a model is applied with maintenance schedule, Spectrum will not poll the device to update the current attribute values. If you remove the maintenance schedule, Spectrum polls it again and update the values accordingly.
