Hello Jason,
Thanks much for the response.
I want to update the Device Type Name, Model Type Name & Model Class attributes using Device Certification utility wherever they have values as "Auto".
I want to understand consequences of it. I am curious and want to know will it increase number of alarms for that particular OID or will there be any other issues/problems.
Sequence that i am planning to follow in Device Certification for a particular OID:
1. Update Model Class (From the drop down select Switch/Router/Switch-Router/Firewall/LoadBalancer)
2.Update Model Type Name(From the Drop Down, select the respective value)
3. Update Device Type Name with actual Device Type Value.
Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Sachin MS

Subject: Asset Information in Component Details tab of CA Spectrum
Hello
"As per my understanding, Once Device Type Name is updated using Device Certification utility, Device Type name, Manufacturer details will get populated in Asset Information (in Components Details tab of Spectrum OneClick) which were blank before the update."
You would need to run a Reconfiguration to allow Spectrum to re-poll for the new data:
Tools > Reconfiguration > Reconfigure Model
Do note that Spectrum does not populate "Manufacturer" or other Asset details for generic "gnSNMPDev" model type. If the device you are working with shows "Support Level = Simple" and "Model Type = GnSNMPDev" in Device Certification then likely the device is not certified and Spectrum likely will not grab all asset info.

Subject: Asset Information in Component Details tab of CA Spectrum
Hello Marcelo,
Thanks for your inputs.
I am having few System object IDs which are having "Auto" Device Type Name in Device Certification. For these respective System object IDs Asset Information (in Components Details tab of Spectrum OneClick) such as Device Type Name, Manufacturer are blank.
Below are the steps to update Device Type Name of System object IDs using Device Certification utility.
1. Launch the Device Certification Utility in OneClick console as Tools-->Utilities-->Device Certification.
2. Select the System Object ID to update Device Type name/Model Type/Model class respective attribute.
3. Click on the edit option, a pop up window launches, update Device Type name/Model Type/Model class as per the requirement.
4. Click on OK button to save the changes.
5. Select the same System Object ID and verify the updated value.
As per my understanding, Once Device Type Name is updated using Device Certification utility, Device Type name, Manufacturer details will get populated in Asset Information (in Components Details tab of Spectrum OneClick) which were blank before the update.
Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Sachin MS

Hi Sachin,
Yes, that information comes from the device via SNMP polls. If you update it in the device config, it will be reflected in Spectrum after a device reconfiguration.
I hope I understood your question correctly.

Hello All,
Greeting of the day!
Could you please let me know how the Asset Information (in Components Details tab of Spectrum OneClick) of a device gets populated in CA Spectrum?
As per my understanding, Asset Information will be extracted through SNMP polling using the MIB already present in the CA spectrum"
Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
