  • 1.  Is it possible to "choose" the Data Collector an elemento goes to in DX PM?

    Hello,

There are some devices that I would like to discover and map into a particular data collector in the system.

Is there any way you advise to do that?

    Thank you.

Create dedicated IP Domains and add specific DC for each IP Domain. This explains somehow the concept.

    Catalin,

And devices must be in separate tenants?

Or they can all be in the same tenant?

    Thank you.

You can have many IP domains in the Default Tenant, or you can create a tenant per IP domain.  It's really up to how you are partitioning your environment.

A DC per customer? A DC for everything?  A DC for a region (US/EU/Asia?)?

Few ways to control what DC you want it to be discovered on:

    1) 1 DC for the IP domain
    2) block IPs on DC(s) in same IP domain you don't want it to discover at all - so that DC will fail and it'll discover on DC that can access the IP
    3) discover and then move to the DC you want it polling on.

    Jeffrey,

And the 2 different IP domains (the default and this new one) can both be sync from Spectrum right?

    Thank you.

They show up automatically once Netops PC syncs with SPECTRUM.

Yup, then you can add the devices to the correct IP domain GC in Spectrum, and spectrum will sync them to PC.  And if you have contribute to DA inventory checked, those IPs will be sent to DA and discovered in the corresponding IP domain/DC.

    Hello

While reading the documentation I have some doubts, maybe you can help clarify?

    Suppose the following scenario:
    a. Have one IP Domain (the default) in DX PM
    b. Want to have a dedicated Data Collector for some devices and so I create a new IP Domain and assign a new Data Collector to it.

    1. Can I migrate some devices that were already in the system ( and are currently in the Default IP Domain) to this new one?

    Thank you.

    Best regards

Sorry, no moving a device between IP Domains or Tenants.   The device needs to be discovered in the new domain.

IP Domain is a way to have overlapping IPs.  So a DC could be put in each customer environment that say an ISP manages.  Each customer has the same set of IPs 192.168.x.x.  So having an IP Domain per customer, all the customers can use same local IPs and PM will treat them as diff entities.
Some do a tenant per customer, some do an ip domain per customer being managed.  It's flexible to how they want to run it.
But since IP domains can overlap, we don't allow moving from one to another.
