  • 1.  Squelching sub interfaces in threshold profile alerting

Currently we have a threshold profile for bandwidth Utilization that works well, but our NOC would prefer 1 Alert for the main interface, and not the multiple sub-interfaces as well.  The profile is alerting on a customer group that pulls in devices, and their interfaces/sub-interfaces based on criteria.  And we're looking to allow other metric alerts in that profile to report on their metrics for the sub-interfaces.

One thought is to copy that one alert in a new threshold profile, and a second group negating sub interfaces, in the 1st group. Remove the alert from the original threshold profile, and as a stand alone alert in the new profile, with the new group assigned to that profile.

Any Chance of a different option, that didn't require more build of groups/profiles. As the goal is to maintain an efficient and standardized approach without a lot of special one-offs, and glut.

    Thanks

    Tim,

How are the NOC users getting the Events? Seeing them in the UI live? Email via Notification?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,

We send the alerts from the threshold profiles back to Spectrum. NOC is getting the alert for the main interface and all the subs impacted as well back in Spectrum.  So we get multiple alerts in showing Spectrum.

    Thanks
