Hello all,
this is and idea/enhancement to improve Spectrum Discovery.
We all agree that a device MAC should be unique and not duplicated though in some cases we will have one device that could potentially have different MAC's configured on its interfaces and matching the MAC of another device.
In such case, and running a discovery Console profile for let's say including Device A (MAC X) and B (MAC Y) with interfaces IntA1 (MAC X), IntA2 (MAC Y) and IntB1 (MAC Y), Spectrum will discover (and potentially model) just Device B as it consider Device A is a duplicate.
if you just create two different profiles with Device A in Profile A and Device B in Profile B, Spectrum will discover (and model) both devices.
That could be the workaround for this, but the problem is when you have a range and you do not really know the IP's (devices) you have to discover and model.
While the Device MAC should be unique, there should be an option in the Discovery Console to filter the MAC Addresses of the interfaces as we do have under Reconfiguration (Filter Interfaces By Ranges) or in the Advanced Options of the Discovery Profile (such as IP / Host Name Exclusion List).
Regards.
