API authentication other than basic

I have read the documentation provided on DOCUMENTATION and it appears the only supported authentication for API with PAM is HTTP basic authentication. I just wanted to verify that this is the case, and if it is are their plans in the future to expand to other supported authentication such as 

username/password + mfa or a SAML/OAuth/OIDC claim?

I think in this future as we all continue to use APIs to customize and automate this would be an important enhancement. I have not seen any new features for this this being added so I would suggest you add this as an enhancement request to https://community.broadcom.com/ideation/allideas  where Product Management can review and understand the requirements. I would also suggest you order your specific authentication methods you feel would add the most value so they understand this not just as a general enhancement.
