  • 1.  Please advice on steps to be followed for IP change of VM running PAM 3.3.2

We have 6 VM's running on 16GBRMA,  8 Core and 280 GB Harddisk.
Since we are in plan to upgrade from 3.3.2 to 3.4 we are planning to upgrade the RAM to 64 GB and for which our VM's will be moved to different cluster with change in IP.

Please advice on steps we need to follow during this change in RAM and IP. Also any issue we need to keep in mind during this.
We will for sure take snapshot before any change we do on the appliances.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Guru

Hi Guru, Do you really want to move nodes to a different cluster? In that case, why would you call it a move? If you are talking about moving it to a different ESX server or even datacenter, they way to go about it would be to take one node out at a time and move it. Bring it up with the new IP and then join it back to the cluster using a new site, assuming the new IP is in a different subnet and cannot/should not be joined back to the old site. At one point you would stop the cluster, make the new site primary site and start it again. Then you can move the remaining nodes. The recommended number of nodes in the primary site is three, additional nodes should be added as members of a secondary site.

    Hi Ralf,
    Thank you for quick response.
We must move to different ESX host as the present one does not have enough memory to increase the RAM of PAM nodes.

Yes new IP's will be in different subnet. We will follow the guidelines you mentioned.
Is there any place other than Configuration --> Network --> Network Settings I have to get the new IP address updated in PAM appliance.
We have F5 LB configured and I will get the IP updated there as well.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Guru

Hi Guru, You can access the PAM UI only after the initial network configuration is done. The IP for the first interface, together with gateway address and network mask, has to be done on the VM console. After that you can use the Network Settings configuration page to configure additional interfaces or make other changes.
