  • 1.  Tech Tip - PAM Client Does Not Start After An Upgrade

    Posted Mar 24, 2017 02:04 PM

A customer recently reported that the PAM client did not work following the upgrade from 2.8 to 2.8.2.  They started the client and saw it go through the process to identify that there was an upgrade for the PAM client code, which completed.  They then clicked the Restart button to restart the client using the newly downloaded code.  After doing so, the were not able to login to PAM.  The customer indicated that the client did not start, but it is not completely clear what they meant by that.  In any case, they were directed by the pre-sales person with whom they were working, Farid Charkian, to remove and reinstall the client.  The customer had no further problems after doing so.

    Update:

We have found that in some cases the CA PAM Client files are not all being completely removed by the uninstall process. Before re-installing, please go check that the entire CA PAM Client folder has been removed from the install location. If it hasn't, you should delete it completely.

In addition, we have seen that in some cases using Run As Administrator may resolve the problem.
