I'd say to create a query to get the agent when the field is changed, then create an Query Policy based on it. Email should be an action of this Policy.
I have set warranty end date for computer in user defined field. I want to get an email alert when the system date is equal to the entered date in user defined field.

I don't see how this can be done entirely in DSM, that field is interpreted as a text string. I only know how to create the query when the field is changed, but since this is a non-inventory field, I don't think that will work.

I agree with Cristi on this. As that field is a text string you are not going to be able to achieve this.
