I tried to backup CA Client Automation 12.8 and restore it on the new hardware with the same specification.
I followed the Backup and Restore guide https://support.ca.com/phpdocs/7/common/greenbooks/CAITCM_BackupandRestore_DSMMDB_ENU.pdf
However the installation fails while restoring with the error 'The Installation of CA Systems Performance LiteAgent failed : Return Code: 1603'
Does anyone know about this?
The 1603 error is a generic Microsoft Installer error. Look in the %TEMP% folder for the installation log file to see the detailed log.
In the 'DSMSetupPMLiteAgent.log' file, it shows:
"MSI (s) (00:4C) [14:55:29:820]: Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: CA Systems Performance LiteAgent. Product Version: 11.2.9273. Product Language: 0. Manufacturer: CA. Installation success or error status: 1603." and at the end of the file "MSI (c) (28:E8) [14:55:29:851]: MainEngineThread is returning 1603 === Verbose logging stopped: 3/8/2016 14:55:29 ==="
what OS is the server?
Wndows Server 2008 R2 SP1
If this is still an issue for you then please raise a support case. 1603 is such a general error we would need to look at the logs to determine why your install failed
