Is there a tech doc or a video available explaining the new offline patch download feature in 12.8 version? The existing tech doc seems to be old and may not be relevant.

CIC can be used to export the content and the selected patches from a machine having internet connectivity (CIC installed in Online Export mode). The content exported can be taken and imported into CA Patch Manager in the offline environment, on a machine which has no internet connectivity.

5.1 How to Run CIC in Online Export Mode?

This section provides a walkthrough of the steps involved in setting up and operating the CIC in Online Export Mode.

CIC can be setup in the Online Export Mode by selecting the operating mode during installation as depicted in the screenshot below.

Note: CIC in online export mode uses a self-reliant datastore and does not require MDB configuration.

    5.2 How to Export Content?

The following steps provide a procedural workflow of CIC in Export Mode:

    • Start CIC: CIC runs as a service by the name "CA Content Import Client"; when the CIC Service runs for the first time it would process and import the baseline content provided during installation into the datastore. Subsequent CIC run would download the new content from contentupdate.ca.com.
    • CIC Cycle: Please wait till CIC runs through the complete cycle; once CIC status shows as Success in the Dashboard then the content is ready for export.
    • Launch CIC Manager: Launch the CIC Manager from Start, Programs, CA, Content Import Client, Launch CIC Manager. This should launch the CIC Web console in a browser.
    • Export Location: The content can be exported to a location of user's choice that is already provided at the time of installation. Alternatively the location can be updated by following the link 'CIC Run Mode' available under the Administration tab of the CICManager application. The field 'Online Export Folder' provides an updatable field for this purpose.
    • Start Content Export: In order to Export, use the Export feature provided in the Export Tab of CICManager. Click the Export button to initiate content export to the location specified by the user. Once the Export is complete the data is ready to be taken over to the machine where CIC is running in offline environment.
