    Hi,

We have DB policy that – Application and DB should not be located on same server. So we will be proposing to install one EM and Two DM pointing to same remote DB server with respective named instances.

    Queries are:

    1. Can we install EM mdb (Qty 1) and DM’s mdb (Qty 2) on the remote server with multiple named instance and ports ?
    2. To get all functionalities of CCS, do we need to install CCS on all the components i.e. on EM and on all DM’s or just we need to install CCS on Enterprise manager?
    3. Can we use EM CCS to see events from DM also in event console, bandwidth throttling mechanism too if we don’t have CCS install on domain managers?

We would like to have following functionalities with CCS install only on Enterprise server with multiple instances of mdb on remote box. Can we get it ?

    1. Bandwidth Throttling
    2. CCS event console for ITCM infrastructure
    3. ITCM integration with SOI trap based thru CCS or without CCS.

Appreciate you could guide us on above queries. We are currently stuck in the design.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Nikhil Kalwint

    Hi Nikhil,

    1. No this is not supported.
    2. Recommended to install CCS on the EM for more control. Please note that with remote MDB, CCS has to be installed on the default instance and not a named instance.
    3. Yes you can. If the server, is going to busy, then you can install CCS on the DM as well.

Bandwidth throttling and CCS event console messages can be handled using the above.
I am not sure regarding SOI traps and probably opening an issue with the SOI team or posting a thread on the SOI community should get you the answers.

    Hi Lenny,

    Thanks for your reply.

Are you sure that we can not install EM and multiple Domains with multiple SQL instances created on same remote Box. Is there any known issue. ?

CA support has confirmed that you can install EM and multple DM's using multiple instances. Request you to please confirm.

    Thanks,

    Nikhil

    Hi Nikhil,

    No, it is not supported.

You will have issues with CCS for sure. Apart from CCS, some functionality may work and some may not work.

The MDBs have to be on different boxes.
